    User Guidelines

    • All the users of the library would be thoroughly checked up by the staff members at the time of leaving the library if the library staff have grounds to feel so. 
    • The users would strictly enter their arrival and departure in the attendance register of the library. 
    • Apron and type of personal things would be kept in the locker out side the library.Personal books, diaries, xeroxed bound materials etc. will not be allowed inside the library. 
    • Only loose papers will be allowed inside the library.
    • Journals/Bound journals/ Reference Books/ Encyclopedia would not be issued to any one.
    • Photocopying and print out facility on payment will be available in the library.
    • Users will show their bags and other belongings volunterly to the library staff when leaving the library.
    • The users will fill up the requisition slip for any type of book or journal from the library and the same will be made available if it exists in the library within 24 hrs.
    • It will be necessary for all users to leave the library 15 minutes before the closing time of the library.

    About Us

    In accordance with the objectives of the institute to become a 'Centre of Excellence' Central Library is to provide the information services and access to bibliographic and full text digital and printed resources in the field of Mental Health and Allied Sciences to the scholarly and informational needs to the institute community. It also support the educational and research programe of the institute by providing physical and intellectual access to information, consistent with the present and anticipated educational and research programes of the institute.

    Library provide a wide range of current , accurate and authoritative information from a vast selection of print and electronic resources using State - of - the - art technology at it's three storied building. The library collection focused primarily on Psychiatry, Psychology, Neurosciences, Psychiatric Social Work and Psychiatric Nursing. The collection of the library which includes Books, Journals, Weekly Magazines, Newspapers, VHS, VCDs, DVDs, Reports, Dissertation, Thesis, WHO publication, Microfilms, Atlas and electronic databases is regarded one of the richest collection of its kind in the country. It has some rarest collection of reference materials dating back from pre independent (1910) and onward. It has collection of nearly 72,000 books, bound volumes of journals and WHO publication. Nearly 2000 books from different world wide publishers have been added every year to make the library collection richer. The library currently subscribes 278 print journals and has access of almost more than 800 e-journals by using different platform such as Science Direct, Wiley's Online Library, OvidSP, Cambridge Online, Sage Online, Springer link etc. Library is also a member of the ERMED - India consortia which is run by National Medical Library, New Delhi. ERMED provides full text access of almost 244+ journals on its platform. It is no exaggeration to state that the CIP Library is the largest and finest of its kind in the country.
